Head in the Clouds

SImply mindblowing.  Dutch artist Berndnaut Smilde has created real nimbus clouds in surreal Amsterdam spaces such as abandoned churches and warehouses.  He regulates the atmosphere in the room then when the time is right sprays a short burst from a fog machine to create a fluffy white cloud suspeneded in the middle of the room for just a moment before it collapses.  Watch the magic in action here.

“I’m interested in the ephemeral aspect of the work,” Smilde said in an e-mail. “It’s there for a brief moment and then the cloud falls apart. It’s about the potential of the idea, but in the end it will never function.”
